Pioneer Matte Paste was the first product we ever formulated.

It’s where Lodestar began — small batches, a ton of trial and error, and a belief that grooming products could be made with care and intention.

To mark six years of Lodestar, we made a very limited micro batch of Pioneer. Just 30 jars, produced once, as a quiet nod to where this brand started.

For the fragrance we combined warm amber, soft resins, and a dry mineral warmth – inspired by sun-warmed stone and open air. Grounded and understated, it mirrors Pioneer’s character: practical, unfussy, and built to last.

Water, Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Wax, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Bentonite, Vitis Vinifera (Grapeseed) Oil, Kaolin, Montmorillonite (French Green Clay), Polysorbate 80, Fragrance, Sunflower Lecithin, Phenoxyethanol (and) Caprylyl Glycol (and) Sorbic Acid

Scoop out a small amount of product and spread onto hands just until smooth. Apply to dry hair for maximum volume and hold, or apply to damp hair for a looser style. Add more product as needed to achieve your style.

Pioneer rinses out almost entirely with warm water and washes out completely with shampoo.
