It's described as a styling cream but is more of a clay which would be fine - but it's also very hard to get out of my hair. It takes a few washes vs I was hoping it would just rinse out with water, so my hair perpetually has a sticky feeling when running my hand through it. Styling wise it's good and has a good hold but not too much, I can get a kind of natural messy look which is nice. I got the Harmony one which has a good light scent
From the reviews, I expected this product to be light in my hair and to easily be able to run my hands through my hair after applying. That has not been the case. The hold of the product is fine, but it is like putty or tacky clay getting the product out of the jar, and once I smear it on my hands it feels like dried glue. After applying to my hair, it is clear I have product in my hair once I run my hands through it. It feels more sticky/thick than many other products I've used, which is disappointing.
Sorry to hear that Río wasn't what you expected! We try our best to describe the product and provide links to product review videos to show the product in action whenever possible. It sounds like you're looking for something with less hold and presence in the hair. You may want to check out Everglade, which is our light holding styling cream. I'd be happy to offer a discount for a purchase since you took the time to leave us a review - just send us a message!
I am so far really enjoying this product. Application is smooth, hold is solid and gives good shape will leaving hair smooth and touchable. Scent is good and long lasting.
I am currently trying out this product and another product from a similar company and made with almost the same ingredients. I like this product more, but I have ONE tiny hangup. Whereas this product uses plastic packaging, the other company uses a more eco-friendly glass package with metal lid. I'm not sure if that's enough to swing me to their side, but if Lodestar used this more eco friendly packaging, I could see this being a holy grail product for me.
Regardless, I am in love with this product and will likely continue to use, but this small difference weighs on me a little bit.
Thanks for taking the time to review Río! I’m glad you’re enjoying the product. Eco-friendly packaging choices are tough - glass is actually no longer recycled in many locations throughout the US (including ours!). It’s disappointing!
Nice out of the jar.
Smoothly into the hair and that scent, damn good.
Solid all day hold but it also keeps the hair soft and malleable.
As far as the effects on my hair, its all good. However, the scent is very mild and mostly all I get is play-dough.
